Women-Owned Businesses

A recent report found that women-owned businesses in the United States now employ 23 million people, which is nearly double the number of those employed by the 50 biggest companies in the country combined!

Business analysts agree: Alicia Robb, Kauffman Foundation senior research fellow was recently quoted saying the following: “The interesting thing about women entrepreneurs is that many of them may be purposely starting businesses as a lifestyle choice. The number of women-owned businesses growing faster may reflect that women are going into business as a viable way to move out of the traditional employment market and gain flexibility.”6

Why not be one of those women entrepreneurs and take your career and your financial future in your own hands?

Wow…I am on one hand shocked by the facts here.. I did not realize that Women have really stepped up to the plate as women entrepreneurs. On the other hand..I knew that we could do it. I am excited that there are women entrepreneurs that have taken control over their own home based business and give all the young women out there, excellent role models!

Women owned businesses provide women the opportunity to rise to the level of their own efforts. They are not limited in their income potential. They choose how much time and effort they put into the business to achieve their goals.

With their own business, they don’t have to “request permission” and schedule time-off months in advance. They don’t have to work 60-80 hours for 40 hours of pay, and little or no raises. Often times women employed in full-time positions working for a company, are expected to do more work, work longer hours, and work for less pay. They get meager rewards or recognition for their efforts. The company is the one who makes the profit. When profits go down, she gets laid off.

Having her own business allows her to decide when and where she is going to work, and when she takes time off. She is responsible for her own efforts, plans her own hours, and reaps the rewards herself. If she has a home-based business she doesn’t have to fight traffic, isn’t stressed out when she gets to work, has more time to pursue her own interests, spend time with family and friends, take vacations, volunteer, etc.

Women today are taking control of their life, achieving their own financial independence, improving their own lives and those around them, not having to ever want to work for someone else again.

I do my home based business part-time right now because of my corporate job. My goal is to quit my full-time job and work my business full-time by the end of 2010! My home based business will allow me to volunteer more time with my dog rescue group and other dog related efforts…I can’t wait!!

Misty, I love animals myself. The reason I like to work from home because I am a grandma of 5 and so I have the time to be there for them all the time.

I am so excited about the number of women choosing to work from home as well as the empowering of other women. I am personally excited to have started my home based business as well as continuing to work part-time teaching children.
