Although their numbers have dwindled in recent years, stay-at-home moms deserve to be commended for their dedicated style of parenting. Few parents feel comfortable shipping their young children off to daycare. Luckily, circumstances sometimes allow one parent to stay home and nurture the kids while the other earns money.
Sometimes that single source of income isn’t quite enough to sustain a family, but that doesn’t mean mom needs to return to work at the office. The Internet offers several unique stay at home mom businesses that anyone can take part in. They can use their professional skills to work from home and remain a part of their children’s everyday lives.
It’s true what they say: you can earn money from the Internet. Web surfers can get paid for visiting sites, responding to surveys, writing reviews, referring friends, clicking ads, rating products and services, and contributing articles and snapshots. The compensation may not be sizeable, but it is ready cash nonetheless.
Enterprising hobbyists can also profit from an online business. By creating their own website, they can sell their goods to others who similarly frequent the Net, aside from their existing network of family, friends, and colleagues. Several online entrepreneurs also benefit greatly from joining social networking sites. Through these friendly sites, any member can set up a business, market his wares, broaden his reach, and increase his client base.
Most small-scale online businesses are run on the side or operated part time only by their busy proprietors. These people have day jobs, full time work elsewhere, or are stay at home parents whose top priorities are their kids and their homes. Even if you have never held a nine-to-five job, there are lucrative home based businesses for moms you can take advantage of.
How many of you have a close relationship with someone who saves you thousands of dollars every year? If you are running a home business for women, and doing your own taxes, you could be throwing away your hard-earned money. I am educated in the field of accounting. However, the responsibility of staying current with the latest tax laws is a burden I am not equipped to manage. In years past, when I was an employee, I enjoyed the efficiency of tax preparation software. The interview-styled questions helped me understand my IRS form 1040. I even happily volunteered to help friends and neighbors complete their tax returns.

This year will be different. I own a home-based business. Even after my years of tax experience, I don’t trust my outdated knowledge, or my ability to navigate software, to the task of keeping every penny that I’m allowed. I’ll leave that job to the experts; those folks who must pay for continuing education classes every year, in order to get the most relevant information available. The same people who, this time of year, are working sixty to eighty hours per week. Do yourself a big favor and hire an expert this year. How much will it cost? Keep the reciept. You can deduct it as a 2010 business expense next year. Please remember one thing. When tax season is finished. Hug your accountant.
I just read this story and it struck me

An exectutive from one of the major airlines boarded one of his own aircraft en route to a busines meeting. Before they left the gate, the executive pulled down the tray table form the seat in front of him and found a cofee stain on it. He refused to let the plane leave until the flight attendant had gone through and checked every tray table on the entire aircraft. The crew quickly went thorugh the cabin, did a few spot cleanings, and in only a minute or two they were in the air heading toward their destination.
During the flight, one of the attendants approached the executive and asked him why he had made such a big deal about a little coffee stain on his tray table. His answer was simple. Pereption. He asked the flight attendant, if one of our paying passengers pulls down their table and finds a stain on it, what will their perception of our airline be? The attendant thought for a moment and the recognized that the perception would be that the airline does not care or that they don’t pay attention to details. Perhaps this would lead a customer to wonder; how well do they service their engines? It could have created a loss of confidence in the airline all together.
In our every day lives, professionalism is a quality that leads to a great perception. With Women’s Dream Team, we are a top notch professional group of women that work from our homes with our own home based business. As Women Entrepreneurs we want the top notch perception 100% of the time!
I am finally getting used to the fact that I am a grandma and all of a sudden I have 12 grand kids. I am writing this blog from my son’s house in Elizabethtown, KY. I feel so blessed because without my home-based business I wouldn’t have been able to jump in the car and come down here to see my brand new granddaughter or to see my son off to Qatar next week. I remember back when my children were growing up. I worked so hard all the time, 40-50 hours a week. I was lucky to use my lunch hour in order to take care of doctor appointments or school functions. I was so exhausted when I got home in the evenings by the time I finished cooking dinner, getting the kids ready and cleaning up the house I didn’t have any desire to plan a vacation. I am so happy to be able to have it different now. Since we 6 year old twin boys now and we are new parents all over again, I find myself so rich in the fact that I can work from home and be home with my kids. Believe me, life is so much easier now.
The most important part of owning your own business is entering into an arena that you’re passionate about. Most people look into home businesses for moms because they have had enough of their 9 to 5 office job. For this reason, being self employed will be a lot more enjoyable if you can work in a sector where your interests and passions reside. But excited new entrepreneurs should also realize that you have to enter into a business with pragmatism as well.
It’s great to be passionate about something, but if there’s no discernable market for your passion, there’s no point in leaving the comfort and stability of your day job. If your only goal is to turn a profit, you may or may not make money. But if you pursue something you really love, you’re more likely to stick it out until you start seeing those always important profits.
I just could not believe what the doctor was telling me. My son, an autoimmune disease, how in the world could this be. I don’t believe it. Every week I have to drive my son to the doctor for blood work and every two weeks take him to the hematologist/oncologist for a once over. He looks so normal, acts normal, eats normal but the reality is that his immune system is destroying him. What makes that happen? As I sat reflecting on all this new information I realized how blessed I am to be able to Stay At Home Mom Business and be available to do all this running back and forth every week. Moms really need to be able to be home so they can deal with the speed bumps that life has before us. Just when we think we have it all figured out, in comes one from left field. I could not imagine having to deal with the stress of my son’s diagnosis and have to go to a job and deal with that stress as well. As moms we need to research and try to do whatever necessary to stay home and care for our children instead of having to drop them off somewhere for a daycare to do it. This is the most important job that was ever created and we need to put our all into it. They grow up to quickly.

As I gaze out my window at our first flurries of puffy, white happiness, my shoulders tense, my heart races, and I relive memories of last year’s accumulation. Getting to work in the winter has a special meaning for those who shovel, in the darkness, to reach their frozen cars.
This year my new online business for women allows me the warm, joyful comfort of being home during winter storms. Instead of struggling with traction devices, I’ll concentrate on enjoying the beautiful scenery. Additionally, if my kids stay home for a snow day, my stress-free job gives me the freedom to take a break and play outside.
As bad weather days approach, I wish everyone safe travel. If you own a home-based business, I wish you congratulations on making a smart choice for yourself and your family.
Having a home based business allows me the flexibility to get ready for the holiday at a less stressful pace. I love December will all the holiday traditions and I am so glad that I have the time to pass these traditions down to my children by making sure they are carried out.
One of our traditions is to light an advent candle and open an advent calendar daily. When I worked out in corporate world, it usually ment on the weekends, we would do the whole week, as we just did not have time during the week to take 5 minutes to appreciate each other, the gifts we have, and the spirit of the holidays.
I am so very happy to have Women’s Dream Team.
What are your holiday traditions that you practice?
