I am loving my retirement so much that I can put my efforts into a legitimate home based business ensuring a bright future. I can plan my day, schedule my work in the privacy of my own home and find myself working smarter being the captain of my “own ship”. My financial future looks brighter. I was fortunate to find the support and training I needed to get my business going.

Kids & Home vs. Job!

January 3rd, 2010

my_bannerI just could not believe what the doctor was telling me. My son, an autoimmune disease, how in the world could this be. I don’t believe it. Every week I have to drive my son to the doctor for blood work and every two weeks take him to the hematologist/oncologist for a once over. He looks so normal, acts normal, eats normal but the reality is that his immune system is destroying him. What makes that happen? As I sat reflecting on all this new information I realized how blessed I am to be able to Stay At Home Mom Business and be available to do all this running back and forth every week. Moms really need to be able to be home so they can deal with the speed bumps that life has before us. Just when we think we have it all figured out, in comes one from left field. I could not imagine having to deal with the stress of my son’s diagnosis and have to go to a job and deal with that stress as well. As moms we need to research and try to do whatever necessary to stay home and care for our children instead of having to drop them off somewhere for a daycare to do it. This is the most important job that was ever created and we need to put our all into it. They grow up to quickly.

As the snow flies

December 6th, 2009

stuck in snow
As I gaze out my window at our first flurries of puffy, white happiness, my shoulders tense, my heart races, and I relive memories of last year’s accumulation. Getting to work in the winter has a special meaning for those who shovel, in the darkness, to reach their frozen cars.

This year my new online business for women allows me the warm, joyful comfort of being home during winter storms. Instead of struggling with traction devices, I’ll concentrate on enjoying the beautiful scenery. Additionally, if my kids stay home for a snow day, my stress-free job gives me the freedom to take a break and play outside.

As bad weather days approach, I wish everyone safe travel. If you own a home-based business, I wish you congratulations on making a smart choice for yourself and your family.

Variety Is The Spice!

October 11th, 2009

pleaf1sI can’t believe that we are already in the 6th week of home school. I am finally starting to feel comfortable with my new title of teacher. I am amazed at how much progress the kids are making. Of course this is kindergarten so I guess I should’nt feel too proud of myself yet. If I can still say that when they are in high school learning chemistry and doing well then I will pat myself on the back. I do think of how much my day consists of and wonder how I would do it if I worked outside the home.
Fortunately, because I am a woman entrepreneur I can juggle all of this without leaving my house. I have also learned that the curriculum alone does not give my kids a well rounded education. I have had to become very creative with my activities.

Last Friday we took a nature walk and picked up leaves and acorns. We got quite an assortment of leaves. Now we will put them on an information sheet, name them and cover them with clear contact paper and put them in a 3 ring binder. The kids seemed to love the activity, the exercise and they always enjoy the time with me, as I do with them. On our weekly trip to the library I found a book called “Books Boys Love” and it has lists and lists of good books to read to the boys. I am having a blast just reading these books. Also, the Core Knowledge Foundation has a great Children’s Dictionary that has lots of words that you can teach them a word a week or a day. The book also has sayings to teach them like “An apple a day keeps the doctor a way”, and so many other things that you just wouldn’t think of teaching. It is a very valuable tool. My income from my home based business has funded my home school curriculum and supplies. I am very excited about it because I can really experiment with many different lessons and not worry about taking the money out of the family budget.

Multi-Tasking

Some days I feel as I am the Queen of Multi-Tasking and other days…I feel like a fish out of water!  Multi-tasking can be a wonderful skill or a downfall if not used properly.

Cutting corners on how to clean up a kitchen, talking on the phone while dusting, or making business calls while waiting for your child to finish up at soccer practice are all excellent ways to make use of your time and multitask.

Talking on the phone while driving, doing your nails while mowing the lawn, and changing the baby while roller blading are not good ideas. ( I know some of those are just funny but seriously…short cutting important communication and important skills/tasks are not good)

You need to make efficent use of your time, while not shortcutting the value in what you do.

Work at Home moms with a home based business are at high risk of too much multi-tasking if you do not set up your office and stick to office hours. It is way to tempting to throw a load of laundry in during work hours if your office is in view of the washing machine.

If you remember to Work Smarter, Not Harder…you will be a true effective Multi-tasking Queen

What are some do’s and don’ts that you can think of?

WomanWorkFromHome-main_FullAccording to a study released last week, female-owned businesses rake in $3 trillion of annual revenue, and they employ 16 percent of all active workers. Needless to say, women have taken a serious step forward in the professional realm; they hold more power and privilege than ever before. As an intelligent, ambitious lady in your own right, this women’s business news should come as no surprise.

While glass ceilings and discrimination were commonplace in years past, the times have changed. It’s time to strike while the iron is hot and capitalize on those business ideas that you’ve been storing up for so long. You can start an online business from scratch at a fraction of the cost of a brick-and-mortar store, or work with affiliates who have already demonstrated a history of success.

Business Quotes

mother and son
Two quotes that I just read that I wanted to share is from “Good to Great” by Jim Collins on page 88.
He states:

” A primary task in taking a company from good to great is to create a culture wherein people have a tremendous opportunity to be heard and, ultimately, for the truth to be heard. ”

” A good to great companies faced just as much adversity as the comparison companies, but responded to the adversity differently. They hit the realities of their situation head-on. As a result, they emerged from adversity even stronger.”

These both totally depict Women’s Dream Team. This group of women totally have the empowered attitude to succeed. You can see that they are entrepenuring women who strive to be amazing leaders! This is a win-win company to have your home business.

Profiting from Home

FinancialFreedomAlthough the national economy has been showing encouraging signs of improvement lately, many women remain reluctant to start a new business venture. The problem is compounded for those who need to support one or more children. Some mothers choose to go the traditional route and search for a second job. Unfortunately, it can be just as unfulfilling as the first. Financial freedom for stay at home moms can be achieved, but you need the proper resources to get an educated start.

The Internet offers plenty of opportunities for those who know where to look. The Web is more than just a hub of seemingly limitless information – it’s also a great place to set up a marketplace at minimal cost. If you have a product or service to sell, there’s most likely an online market to provide the demand. Just think of the difference this secondary revenue stream could make in your life.

Specialize and Prosper

Whenever you read statistics about startup businesses failing, it’s important to keep the facts in perspective. If a product or service isn’t selling, it’s most likely due to a high level of competition. For instance, an attempt to sell mainstream electronic goods on the Internet isn’t necessarily a smart strategy. Just think of how easy it is for well-established competitors to lower shipping costs and undersell you.

To find the most fruitful income opportunity, look for niche markets where supply does not yet meet high consumer demand. Specialization is crucial in today’s economy, and individuals need to adapt to that reality. Ask yourself this question: What product or service can I provide with more quality and efficiency than anyone else out there? Before expanding your home based business for moms, consider pinpointing a few select areas of need.

extra income for women

Empty nest syndrome might not be considered a true medical disorder, but its emotional effects are very real. Many women strive to raise happy, self-sufficient children. In some cases, women sacrifice a full-time career in the interest of making sure their children grow up with all the tools necessary to survive. Once that objective is accomplished, it’s never easy to find a similarly fulfilling goal.

For empty nesters, half the battle is rediscovering that healthy marital dynamic. After all, when the kids are away, the adults can finally play. In addition to relighting that romantic spark, women can move their own dreams to the forefront. Extra income for women is very attainable, whether it’s from a part-time job that provides the basis of a routine or an opportunity to work from home. It’s a blessing in disguise when the kids leave for college; they’ll be back to visit often, and in the meantime women can reconnect with their personal goals.
